Cyclists Rule the Streets

image

Apologies for the early morning bluster.  I must still be high off the dopamine rush from last week’s Bike to Work Day.  But it’s not all empty bravado!  Take a second to look around and you’ll surely notice!

For instance, this driver has apparently learned from her earlier bike-lane-obstructing transgressions and is now double-parking in the rightmost vehicle lane instead of the bike lane.  I gave her a thumbs up and some verbal affirmation, and she smiled back.  She really seems like a polite (although mildly oblivious) lady.  Glad to see she’s figured things out!

And what do we have here?  JUSTICE!!!

This is the first time I’ve seen private vehicles getting ticketed for failing to make a right turn onto 10th Street from Market.  Sorry to rub it in, drivers, but is it really so hard to read those signs?

Before you know it, the jerk mentality behind Shut Your Fucking Mouth Bitch Or I’ll Knock You Off Your Bike will be a distant memory.  Or will it?  Will cyclists and cars always hate each other?

Yet, she still hasn’t learned not to double park. Oh well, I guess it’s arguably an improvement.

Huge improvement in safety for the thousands of cyclists that pass through there daily. Plus, she’s more likely to get the message from annoyed drivers than from annoyed cyclists and learn how to park in a, say, parking spot.

Great write up and photos. GREAT. Thanks.

Not clear to me how this is an improvement. The lady should learn how not to double park.

Clearing a lane is a huge improvement to those who use it. Blocking another is super annoying. So I’d say this driver moved from really really really irritating to just really really irritating.

Who is a ‘cyclist’ and who is ‘cars’? Don’t most people drive, ride a bike, walk, AND take Muni…?

We don’t need to be defined by who we get around this city– we’re all just people trying to get to work, or home or social engagement– sometimes on no wheels, sometimes on 2 and sometimes on 4…

fucking finally someone says it. its such a “white” thing to put everything into groups and order things. just STFU already. cars are great, bikes are great, walking is great (my fave) and public transportation is great. I know so many who do all 4 and dont give a fuck about this shitty “OH SORRRYY DRIVERS, WE RUN THIS TOWN” bullshit. No you fucking dont.

Pro-bike people are hands down some of the biggest, most annoying douchebags in SF. You arent better than anyone just because you use the most dangerous way to get around a major metro area, dipshit.

Once you get a life, you’ll find more interesting things to blog about. Life is short. Stop fixating.

friscolex vs ferocious foot odor for the opinion championship

But Ferocious Foot Odor so clearly wins in the Awesome Name Qualifying Heat…

One does wonder what is more “interesting to blog about” than that which affects you every single day.

  5. [...] could double the capacity of lanes on all our freeways does sound like a palatable idea, but as an outspoken proponent of bicycles and stuff, I feel like there’s a better way to go about this.  With that said, feel free to zip this [...]
