Dear Mission Street Food community — I hereby demand JAPADOGS:
I was up in Vancouver for a couple of days for the Olympics, and this line was one of the longer in town. (Longest were the lines for public transit – they were Toyko-crowded, but they moved fast. OMG I simply cannot imagine Muni trying to deal with the Olympics.)
Anyway, more on the magic that are JAPADOGS here.
Last time I was in Pal’s Take Away, they told me they were planning to do Japanese hot dogs.
I actually had the Japanese hot dog at Pal’s last week and felt it was a little weak and too pricey for what it was. Japadog blew it away (my basis of comparison) in terms of quality and price. The 4505 link, while awesome, didn’t work as well as the sausages they use for Japadog. Pal’s has potential but Japadog will hold that place dearly in my heart until then.
They are super tasty and you need to go early to avoid long lines.
I loved the veggie option I had at japadog vancouver.
I used to live in Vancouver.
The first steps if for the citizens of the Mission to demand a Kintaro Ramen. (Would also work as street food!) Then we demand cheap ($2.50/roll), good (like, really good) sushi on every block (okay, maybe two per block). Then we can talk about Japadogs.
Also, where are the ex-Yugoslavian restaurants in this city? Portland and Vancouver both have them. Street food is perfect for pljeskavica.

SF badly needs better sushi density. Every other block minimum.
In Vancouver, they practically throw sushi at you at each corner.
Yep, just got back from Vancouver and the Japadog blew everyone’s minds.
Paging Rosamunde!
The Okonomi sounds awesome, but the Edamame is a no-start from the gate; edamame should be served on the side.
So…. Is there any okonomiyaki or pajeon in the Mission?
Sometimes Nombe will have okonomiyaki for their street food menu at night. I know On The Bridge in Japantown always has it on the menu.
