Smoochy smoochy! I couldn’t help but follow up on Ariel’s Missile Toes post from the other day, as we keep coming across more Mission mistletoe…
Your mistletocations for the week, as reported thus far:
- 23rd and Valencia (Pictured above, in front of Beretta)
- 21st and Valencia (From Ariel, of course)
- 16th and Dolores (MrEricSir says)
- 16th and Church (Quoth MrEricSir)
- 18th and Dolores (MrEricSir, okay?)
- Above the escalator at 24th St. Bart (per Daniel)
- 20th and Valencia, by Dog Eared Books (Jeff tells us)
- 16th and Guerrero, outside of Andalu (Makeout King MrEricSir, back for more)
Swoon! That’s practically a full make-out sesh right there. I got smooched under one of these bad boys last night and let me tell you, it was a much cheaper way of getting lucky than pumping my bf full of cocktails.
Good luck, y’all!
I didn’t get a photo, but saw one at 20th and Valencia, by Dog Eared Books, late last night.
Thanks, Jeff! I’ll add that in!
I forgot — there’s also one right outside Andalu (16th and Guerrero.)
What are you, the Makeout King of the Mission?
Might have to ask my gf about that one.
Real pimps don’t need mistletoe in order to get flat-out rejected by cute strangers.
Is this a new tradition, hanging mistletoe at intersections? Or have I just missed it in years past? Anyway it’s awesome.
Not quite in the Mission, but I spotted one in an optimal location outside Harvey’s at 18th and Castro.

I saw someone putting mistletoe up at 26th and Valencia… Not sure how long it lasted there!
Kat, thanks for doing the legwork to actually make this a story. I hope everyone makes out all right. And gets kissed off. And isn’t about time we found one in La Lengua?
Oh, mattymatt, saw the same mistletoe meeself at 18th & Castro. Leaned way down, and my Boston Terrier did the deed.
also seen on the corner of Masonic and Fell.
On Saturday Masonic and Haight had one and the 22 stop going west at Valencia had three, one above each seat in the bush shelter.
There was also someone selling sprigs of mistletoe from their trunk a few blocks farther down Haight Street on Saturday, but it didn’t occur to me until later to ask if they were behind the entire thing.
There is one inside The Curiousity Shop too.
I believe this was done by the same folks who brought you “swings in a BART” fyi.
way to fuck that up and make shit even more awkward for me in this god forsaken city. Thanks San Francisco!
Always wanted to kiss a complete stranger…
