Is there a call to action here gang? We were just there, watching a great documentary about a French filmmaker. The staff was charming, and barely competent — as always. But that’s part of the charm. Is there a problem we need to know about?
i had a similar experience w.r.t. the roxie, synecdoche, and it being the bomb
i saw it in the little roxie though as i recall and i’m not too hyped on that thing’s setup. a little too much like watching a movie in someone’s garage.
I really wish the Roxie would just play something fun for once instead of depressing social documentaries and depressing dramas. How about a whole week of Star Trek movies, or a Back to the Future triple feature night?
Isn’t something “fun” whats playing at almost EVERY other theater?
How about just a little tiny shred of thoughtfulness occasionally rather than blind dumb “fun” 100% of the time?

Nothing specific as far as I know. Just neighborhood history. But the small Mission theaters are a dying breed.
Part of the problem is that they don’t show anything people want to see.
Kevin, the occasionally show porn.
I believe Kevin was referring to New Moon. He doesn’t do films that may cause mental stimulation.
Bingo.
I saw ‘Synecdoche, New York’ there and it was the boooooomb! Wasn’t playing anyplace else, either.

I saw Synechdoche there too!
I saw Harvard Man there, and it had the most realistic portrayal of an LSD trip I’ve seen on film….
I want to love the Roxie so bad, I do, I really do, but it is a dump. I’m sad, why can’t we have nice things?

I’ve seen a 3 Stooges film fest there…what’s the problem?
That picture hides the broken glass on the box office.
And the homeless that sleep in front of its doors every night.
