BEWARE: Poker Players and Loose Women

Beware?  Are you kidding?  This sounds awesome!

TRESPASSERS, Beggars, Vagrants, Loiterers, are NOT WELCOME.  You will be subject to removal by tenant, and full criminal Prosecution.  THIS MEANS YOU!

Damnit, it looks like I’ll just have to head to Reno.

we need this guy to patrol the 600 and 700 blocks.

  2. zinzin says:

    400 & 500 too.

  3. shawnbot says:

Hell, I’d pay him to patrol the whole stretch between 16th and 24th. Somebody needs to pick up the slack, because the guy that lives in the parking lot shack on the 200 block sure as hell hasn’t been doing his job lately.

  4. zinzin says:

one thing i CAN say, is that our Capp/Shotwell@20th neighborhood group has met with Campos & Tacchini both….

and they have arranged, effective as of Wed, 5/6, dedicated bicycle officers to patrol Capp, SVN, Shotwell, and Folsom from 18th – 21st.

not a bad start. we’ll see how it goes. watch for em. say hi. make friends.

once you’re talking about 16th & north, btw, it’s Daly (d6), not Campos (d9). very difficult to have any sort of discussion about d6 till Daly terms out. he, for some reason, believes that a 24/7 open air drug & prostitution bazaar at 16th & mission is a banner for “progressive” values.

    • Have you actually seen the dedicated officers? If so, they are doing a very good job sticking to those three blocks as the only cops I ever see on 700 block are the ones driving 50 mph down the street with their sirens on trying to beat Mission St. congestion.

Are they supposed to be 24 hours a day or what?

      • zinzin says:

heh. i haven’t seen swarms of them, no. so far i’m just reporting the promises. we have a follow-up meeting next week with Campos & Tacchini, and i will get particulars. i’ll report back.

that said, i’m willing to bet the police speeding down capp are probably doing more than just trying to beat traffic. my usual snarky comment is “another junkie with a hangnail”…

but imho, the cops in the mission work hard, and in a considerably hostile (from many perspectives) environment…

I’ve seen uniformed officers on foot patrol fairly frequently on Mission near the 24th Street BART and parts north. Also a couple of times past Cesar Chavez toward 29th. It’s pretty cool, actually, to see them walking a beat, like their job is going to matter some.

      • I also see the beat cops on 24th a lot (especially when working from Philz. That place has to be the safest building in the city). That said, they don’t seem to wonder down Capp too often and the SF crime maps do not seem to indicate that 24th is any more dangerous / safe than Capp.

    • zinzin: just pray that Daly doesn’t actually succeed in stepping up to Mayor.

      • zinzin says:

        absolutely, positively horrifying thought.

        but i know it’s possible.

funny how one could be actually ROOTING for a sap like mirkarimi (wince) when you think about it being daly (puke).

i guess if gavin wins for gov, the prez of the BoS (chiu) sits as mayor for the term balance.

i honestly can;t even name a credible candidate that isn’t totally mired in “progressive” ideologue bullshit.

        ugh.

I imagine this is an anti-outpatient sign. There are a lot of zombie-people from the two facilities who walk up and down that block all day, and not everyone is as friendly as me. Also, sometimes people pass out in doorways that are not their own, not that that sign would do any good in that sort of a situation.

    • zinzin says:

maybe so. i think ol’ capp street has all manner of…um…interesting folks on it, friendly & not, lucid & not, dangerous & not, conscious & not.

i have to say there are certainly days when i share the feelings of the writer there….though that’s probably not a surprise to anyone reading this.

I think you are editorilizing by adding the colon to the Beware Poker Players and Loose Women sign. I don’t read the sign as being a warning others about poker players and loose women.

Instead, I read the sign as being a warning to poker players and loose women.

Some badass lives in that house. If you are a poker player, the occupant is going to take your money. If you are a loose woman, well, you know the story.
