Reader Steven W. sent this in the other day:
Just saw this today on a stroll to Flax with Casey (other half of Telephone and Soup) It was right by 15th and Valencia, the same side of the street of Jack Hanley gallery, but on the block nearer to 16th. Love the crayons, but not sure what’s up with the arrows?
What’s up with the arrows?
(Thanks, Steven!)
we saw this the other day too, on the way back from flax, and my kid (4.5 yrs) LOVED it. of course, he’s quite down with the subject matter.
but he then required a LONG (and hopefully unbiased) explanation of graffiti, street art, etc.
he helps me paint over tags on the block, so he was surprised about a sample that his dad doesn’t regard as “a fucking pain in the ass”.
we’re now doing a series of such paste-ups all over the garage door (which is in the back of the house)…so far, he designed a line of skunks smoking cigars & wearing top hats.
ironic? maybe.
It’s obviously Crayola’s response to Lego’s mp3 player.
Zinzin, please record and post your next graffiti/street art explanation — I think it would make an excellent Platonic dialogue. (Seriously.)
