Yelpers Wrong About Emmy’s?

Junk Thief dined at Emmy’s Spaghetti Shack yesterday and had a fab time:

Yelp reviewers had cheap inflatable tent heralded Emily’s as “the best place in San Francisco to wait over an hour to be served mediocre spaghetti.” So I was a little irked that my meal was very good and came in about 20 minutes.

He went early on a Sunday evening and had halibut, so is that the secret? Go early, don’t order spaghetti? Link.

I agree with Emily. I wasn’t very impressed.

I think it’s one of those places that people go who don’t live in the Mission. This is my assumption because anytime i talk about living in the mission from people who don’t live in the mission, they always talk about going to Emmy’s Spaghetti Shack, and how it was really good.

i like(d) emmy’s, five years ago. before all the d’bags from cow hollow found out and caused 1 hours waits. the salad is good and the spaghetti is homely. and its not what i think about when i think about The Mish. so maybe you should label it Bernal Heights as it fits into that neighborhoods reputation more?

ps: you cant beat buying nine 40 oz’s and getting the tenth for free.

    hmmm.

ive never watched Food Network. maybe it was longer than 5 years ago that i thought it was cool. i used to smoke a lot of pot and my memory fails me at times.

bottom line: i like the forties, but not the wait.

can you get country club there?

  7. Plug1 says:

no, just Mickeys, Bud and Miller High Life. i think they used to have like 10 diff kinds.

have you ever been to Front Porch? that place is pretty tasty, but again more Bernal than The Dirty 30. (Mission)

I won’t try to defend this place except to say that the food was pretty good and the crowd not too annoying. That was not the case the two previous times I went there. Also, I always have trouble deciding if something on Mission is actually Bernal or still Mission or Outer Mission. Since they’re technically a a few feet back from Mission, I guess they do qualify as Bernal.

40s and spaghetti doesn’t sound very good to me. Like in ‘Big Night’ when that lady orders risotto AND spaghetti …
